Amber’s passion for learning, the outdoors, and being physically active have taken her around the world and broadened her experience in the education field, where she has been a teacher for over 7 years. She taught in a remote First Nation in Northwestern Ontario for the past few years. Amber understands the importance of advocating for equal education and how vital culture and nature are to the youth’s well-being.
Amber received her teaching certification at the Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand, where she learned more about nature and how a country can be respectful and inclusive of their Indigenous peoples. Prior to that, she obtained an Bachelor of Arts. in Kinesiology with Honours at York University to better understand how the body works and what various forms of physical activity can do to a person’s well-being. She is currently certified with the Ontario College of Teachers and the Nova Scotia Teachers Associations.
