Highlights from professional or volunteering experiences
I worked as a summer school teacher, focusing on heightening reading comprehension for English language learners and reading the Harry Potter series. We all had a magical time discussing creative characters, mixing enchanting potions (science experiments), writing essays, and pondering our muggle lives. Each of my students challenged me in different ways and allowed me to grow as a teacher. I have had the privilege of working with people with diverse abilities, including as a camp counsellor for British Colombia’s Easter Seals’ Camps for children with disabilities. Through collective costume wearing, talent sharing, song singing, burping, and exploring, I’ve developed skills and made incredible memories. This experience is particularly significant to me because it made me completely re-consider how I perceive people with exceptionalities.
Favourite activity to do with young people. I love exploring nature with young people! Canoeing, hiking, camping, swimming, and simply exploring the forest are all activities I always look forward to. I’ve done a lot of adaptive hiking and camping.

Hobbies and passions
I enjoy travelling. This year I backpacked across Asia alone for four months. I also enjoy reading and contemporary documentaries. Running, yoga, hanging out with young people, and cooking delicious vegetarian meals are all activities that make me feel replenished when I start feeling stressed out. I am a proudly passionate feminist. I love learning about and discussing how we can make Canada more equitable.

Why I chose to be a Teach For Canada Ambassador
As an undergraduate student in Anthropology, I learned about the many challenges Indigenous Peoples face in Canada. The impact of quality education for marginalized students was continually emphasized. Additionally, I learned about the challenges in recruiting teachers to teach in remote communities in Canada. I feel privileged to assist in ensuring that all students in Canada have access to incredible teachers. I am also excited by the prospect of teaching in a northern community when I graduate and I want my fellow teacher candidates to be aware of this opportunity as well.
