2024-25 Indigenous Education Speaker Series – Part 2: Building Responsible, Reciprocal Relationships with Earth with Carolynne Crawley

Join us for the second session in the 2024-25 Indigenous Education Speaker Series, exploring the theme of Land-Based Learning.

Indigenous peoples have long understood the profound, interwoven relationships between all beings. Indigenous Elders teach that we share an individual and collective responsibility to nurture healthy and reciprocal relationships with Mother Earth—an understanding that is more critical now than ever. As we witness the impacts of climate change, extreme weather, wars, and injustices, governments and corporations move slowly to create meaningful change.

Though Indigenous peoples make up only 5% of the global population, they protect 80% of the world’s biodiversity. In this session, Carolynne Crawley, founder of Msit No’kmaq and co-founder of Turtle Protectors, will share teachings that have guided her since childhood. She will offer insights into Indigenous perspectives that emphasize the importance of building responsible and reciprocal connections with the Earth.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore ways to deepen their personal relationship with the land and reflect on their role in supporting and protecting vital connections to the Earth.

This session builds on the foundation of the first event, Canada’s Colonial Past & Present, and will lead into the final installment in April 2025. Attending all three sessions is encouraged to deepen your learning and engagement with this critical topic.

Don’t miss this chance to learn with Carolynne Crawley and connect with the teachings of Land-Based Learning.
