
Carrie is one of the Community Engagement Managers. She focuses on building connections and unpacking the why behind a problem to find solutions.
Prior to joining Gakino’amaage, Carrie specialized in supporting children, youth and parents to be involved in research. She is passionate about helping children and families, especially in education and health. She has facilitated local and national advisory councils, with the iCARE research study (Improving outcomes in kids with diabetes), the MIREC cohort study (Maternal-Infant research on environmental chemicals) and many more. She has worked closely with the national CHILD-BRIGHT network, her local rehabilitation centre and her local school district. She has presented at conferences throughout Canada and written research articles on her work in engaging youth and families in research and the health system. Carrie holds a certificate from the Center for Implementation as an Implementation Support Practitioner (Level 1).
Carrie is a parent of three kids, an avid soccer player, a puppeteer, and an award-winning playwright for young people. In her recent writing, she works with two Indigenous co-writers to explore ideas of colonization and reconciliation for school audiences.
