Hilary is excited to be part of the Gakino’amaage: Teach For Canada team. As Professional Development Manager, she is passionate and committed to supporting Education Assistants to grow their professional skills, strengthen local teaching capacity, and support student success. Since receiving her Bachelor of Education from Queen’s in 2012, Hilary has taught in schools in Selkirk First Nation’s Pelly Crossing (Yukon), Australia, El Salvador, and The Halton and Bluewater District School Boards in Ontario. Hilary is a passionate educator with deep roots in outdoor and land-based learning, committed to being an ally in the work of true reconciliation and leading with compassion, humility, and positivity.
For nearly a decade, Hilary has been a board member with the Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario, helping to facilitate professional development conferences while collaborating with and supporting a network of dedicated educators. She has also contributed to national education initiatives through her work with Take Me Outside as an Education Program Coordinator, as well as through consulting with Learning for a Sustainable Future, where she supported educator outreach and capacity building. As the founder of the Grey-Bruce Youth Climate Action Conference, Hilary continues to contribute to this growing, community-driven annual event and is continually inspired by the climate action initiatives led by students. Relationship building is at the core of Hilary’s work, and she values every opportunity to support student and educator success through both classroom and outdoor learning environments.
Outside of work, Hilary enjoys connecting in nature with her two boys, husband, family and friends; embracing the rhythm of the seasons, from snowy trails and ski slopes to cycling, running and paddling adventures.
