Why I chose to be a Teach For Canada Ambassador
I thoroughly believe in bridging the education gap between non-Indigenous and Indigenous students. I bring to Teachers College my experience and what I endured as an Indigenous student in primary, secondary, and post-secondary school. It wasn’t always a negative journey, but my experience brought me to question why Indigenous and students of colour do not receive the same educational assistance as other Canadian students. I constantly struggled with my identity in school and have made it my goal to help establish safe relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, while helping Indigenous students so that they do not face the same type of identity crisis as I did.
